Confidence, Resilience, Courage: Empower Her Leadership Camp
Hey all, Brooke here, and welcome to the blog of Empower Her Leadership!
This is our first blog post [it took us a minute to get on the blog train, ha ha] and.....second year at camp! We are looking forward to a great 2018 camp and year building female leaders and thought we'd write all about our upcoming camp.
Some of the questions I get asked most often about Empower Her Leadership Camp is:
1. Why did you start this camp?
2. What is your camp about?
So let's start with the why, as that is a very important piece to our camp. Empower Her Leadership's mission is to empower and develop female youth leaders through education and training and is based in Utah. But why Utah? Why women?
Utah "consistently ranks at or near the bottom of national studies on the status of women" and has historically struggled in its progress towards gender equity. Research by the Utah Women & Leadership Project shows that Utah ranks amongst the lowest in the nation in female held leadership positions in politics, education, and business. In addition, the wage gap for females in Utah and incidents of sexual assault are much higher than the national average.
To keep it succinct, Utah has a need for progress working towards gender equality and the presence and role of women in leadership.
That may be the shortest version of all time as to the "why" of our camp... but it will have to do for now!
Alright, next, what is our camp about?
This year our theme for camp is "Confidence, Resilience, Courage". There are different obstacles that women, and particularly young women face as they navigate their spheres of influence. Our theme is based on addressing obstacles unique to women and helping our campers gain the confidence they need to step out, step up, and lead. Empower Her Leadership camp really is about empowering women. It's about developing leaders. It's about helping create strong, powerful, confident girls and young women. It's about preparing the youth to lead us tomorrow.
We are looking forward to a great camp year! For more information you can got to our FAQ or registration page, or contact us at email@example.com
